Lizzo, Melissa Viviane Jefferson, is a famous american rap singer, known mostly for her “Truth Hurts” song that revealed recently that she started her weight loss journey. Grammy award winning singer became very popular with her body positive posts. Before her weight loss she was the role model of body positivity. In her previous video she showed her body in a brown bodysuit with weight gain. The kind of a body positive ambassador opposed body shaming many times in many other ways. Many people gained weight and she defended them. Many shared the same opinion with the singer even if they are not overweight.

“Now, you look at the hashtag ‘body positive,’ and you see smaller-framed girls, curvier girls. Lotta white girls. And I feel no ways about that, because inclusivity is what my message is always about. I’m glad that this conversation is being included in the mainstream narrative,”

she said to Vogue in 2020.

However, now it seems that Lizzo decided to change her attitude a bit. She managed to shred about 50 pounds(or 70 pounds).

Lizzo was asked about how she choosed to describe herself when it comes to body and weight issues, Lizzo said:

“It’s easy. I would like to be body-normative. I want to normalize my body.”

Everything is simple. She took work out session and has a diet plan.

Lizzo has spent some money in order to fulfill her weight loss goal. Some sources said that she spent about $500-$1000 only on her diet. This helped her lose about 50 pounds of weight. However, she also announced that she lost about 70 pounds.

As a matter of fact, Drake, the famous singer, assisted her with her initiative by putting her up in a house for three months.

With or without surgery?

The famous rapper revealed that she hasn’t passed though any surgery for her weight loss.

All of her excess skin from her back was removed with with proper workout sessions and diet. So, she used no liposuction, implants, body shapers, or any kind of stuff like that.

Lizzo’s diet was quite a specific plant diet plan for her weight loss goals. It included some exclusions such bread, sugar, salt, and pasta. Additonally, she also excluded pizza, cheeseburgers, and tacos from her diet. However, when it comes to vegetables she revealed thatshe can eat them as much as she wanted.

It is noteworthy that Lizzo did not have a set number of calories for a day because her stomach can cope with more amount of food than an average person that does not work out as much as she does.

The rapper revealed that she is a great supporter of vegan lifestyle. She announced about that many times in Tik Tok.

“Before this, I craved cheesy eggs, but I’ve found a substitute”.

as she said.

For breakfast, she had frozen fruits, spinach and a smoothie made with coconut water and green tea.

For lunch, she ate followed a normal vegan diet with salads.

So, the the “Truth hurts” singer preferred to consume mostly plant based proteins.

However, in addition to the vegan diet, she likes to have snacks and deserts. The menu list here included frozen strawberries, jelly smoothies, vanilla protein powder, peanut butter jelly smoothie, oat milk

Smoothie detox

Lizzo also revealed that during her weigh loss she used smoothie based detox for 10 days. Many experts actually criticize the smoothie detox for not being healthy. Some fans commented that she promoted unsafe weight loss practices. She responded in TikTok

“I did the 10-day smoothie detox, and, as you know, I would normally be so afraid and ashamed to post things like this online, because I feel like, as a big girl, people just expect if you are doing something for health, you’re doing it for, like, a dramatic weight loss, and that is not the case. “I’m so proud of myself,”

Workout Session

We don’t know much about Lizzo workout routine. Lizzo posted

“I am working out to have my ideal body type. And you know what type that is? None of your f***** business because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job, and I stay on my job”.

However, in one of her videos, she revealed a part of her workout sessions. She did cycling, jumping rope, and such kind of stuff.

After the goal was reached the singer revealed that

“It wasn’t easy, right here was the hardest — days four, five and six. It started to get to me mentally. I was never super hungry. I just wanted to stress eat and do things that were kind of self-harming.”

“ As a new vegan, I am enjoying exploring flavors from plants and plant-based proteins. Every journey is personal and deserves to be celebrated.”

Such a dramatic weight loss showed the famous rap singer. After her previous body positivity statements that was great shift. However, she said later, she did it not for the better body shape but for feeling better and healthier. So there was no contradiction.
